"Such People Feel Deception of the Belarusian Authority"

Priest Slavomir Laskovsky leaves Belarus.

Homel prior Slavomir Laskovsky leaves Belarus after 28 years of service. He has managed to do much in a spiritual life in Homel and across Belarus, the report of Belsat TV channel informs.

The priest arrived in Homel in 1989. There was neither a parish nor a Catholic holy shrine. To date, the parish community has about a thousand constant church-goers. He was the one who managed to join painters' workshop - former chapel - to let the church appear. Other Catholic parishes of the Homel region also revived. Much attention is also paid to charity - thanks to the sisters of the Order of Mother Teresa and the Benedictine Samaritans, Children's Village for the disabled, a charity mission "Caritas Miloserdie", a group of anonymous alcoholics and drug addicts were established. And this is not everything.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka denied citizenship to Laskovsky. Homel human rights defender Ales Euseenka believes that such educated and energetic people jeopardise the Belarusian authorities:

"Such people feel deception. There has been much of it in our lives."

According to Euseenka, Catholic believers of Homel feel themselves like orphans.

"Priest Slavomir came to an empty place - there was nothing here. But he had everything rebuilt, raised funds, traveled around the world look for for those who could help. He could easily get on the right side of different people," Euseenka says.
