Activist of European Belarus Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk becomes suspect

Activist of European Belarus Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk becomes suspect
PALINA SHARENDA-PANASIUK

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk told how the authorities pressure on the leaders of the protest spring.

The status of Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, an activist of the civil campaign European Belarus from Brest, was changed from a witness to a suspect in the case of a banner "Lukashenka, you are a freak! Stop plundering our people!" hanged out in Brest, Radio Racyja reports.

This change of status based on the testimony of a witness – some Ihar Leaniuk, who supposedly did not know well on what street he was, at what stop, but who supposedly could recognize Palina, since he had a photographic memory. During the police lineup they placed the activist between two girls - dyed blondes with long hair, so that, so to speak, the witness was not mistaken, says Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk.

– This case is fabricated. It is in line with pressure imposed on activists of European Belarus. We can assume that the authorities have developed an operation to neutralize activists and leaders of protest movements in anticipation of the autumn of 2017, – Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk said.

According to Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, the security agencies are looking for any reasons that will enable them to neutralize activists by the autumn. Palina refused to testify against herself on this customized political case.

An administrative case was initiated for hanging out an anti-Lukashenka banner in February. Later they changed it to a criminal case. Linguistic examination stated that the inscription was cynical, offensive to the ruler.

We remind, that the Investigative Committee also summoned the coordinator of the European Belarus Yauhen Afnahel.

The Brest Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee has also summoned Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk's husband Andrei Sharenda, an activist of European Belarus, who has to go there tomorrow.
