Investigative Committee Summons Activist Of European Belarus Andrei Sharenda
Andrei Sharenda

The investigative committee can make Andrei Sharenda a suspect in a criminal case, just like his wife Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk.

The Brest Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee has issued a notice to the activist of the civil campaign European Belarus Andrei Sharenda.

He has to come to the investigator of the IC Alena Tikhanovich at 11am on May 30.

Today, the Brest Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee has also summoned Andrei Sharenda's wife - Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk. The IC has changed the status of Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, an activist of the civil campaign European Belarus, from a witness to a suspect in the case of a banner "Lukashenka, you are a freak! Stop plundering our people!" hanged out in Brest.

– This is a fabricated case. It is in line with pressure imposed on activists of European Belarus. We can assume that the authorities have developed an operation to neutralize activists and leaders of protest movements in anticipation of the autumn of 2017, – Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk said.

An administrative case was initiated for hanging out an anti-Lukashenka banner in February. Later they changed it to a criminal case. Linguistic examination stated that the inscription was cynical, offensive to the ruler.

We remind, that the Investigative Committee also summoned the coordinator of the European Belarus Yauhen Afnahel.
