Mikhail Zhyzneuski Became Hero Of Ukraine

Mikhail Zhyzneuski’s parents got the Star of Hero, awarded to their son by Petro Poroshenko.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Mikhail Zhyzneuski, who had been killed on Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity, nv.ua writes.

Poroshenko presented the Star of Hero to Zhyzneuski’s parents – Mikhail and Nina Zhyzneuski.

"He gave his life for our and your freedom ... For us, Mikhail is not a foreigner, for us, Mikhail is a Ukrainian soul," – Poroshenko said.

The President thanked Mikhail Zhyzneuski’s parents on behalf of the Ukrainian people for their firm position, deep understanding and endurance in such difficult conditions.

"I am proud that today your son, a great Belarusian and a great Ukrainian, has joined the glorious cohort of Ukrainians who bear the title Hero of Ukraine," – Poroshenko added.

He also recalled that he initiated changes in the legislation, supported by the Verkhovna Rada, which allowed to award the highest award of Ukraine to a foreigner for the first time in history.

We remind that on April 13, the Verkhovna Rada allowed to award the title Hero of Ukraine to Belarusian citizen Mikhail Zhyzneuski, killed during the Revolution of Dignity.
