The Police Refused to Return Books of Andrei Sannikov

The book of Andrei Sannikov, the leader of the European Belarus, was taken to re-examination.

Investigator of the Pershamaiski District Department of the Investigative Committee Alesya Strechen informed coordinator of the European Belarus Jauhen Afnahel when he had part of his things back after seizures on March 22 and 23. There were no books of Andrei Sannikov. The police also refused to return a column loudspeaker, a sound amplifier, a diesel generator.

"I had only part of my things back which were seized on the eve of Freedom Day. There are two old laptops, flash drives and disks. When I asked what the reason was for absence of Andrei Sannikov's books, some other publications and videotapes, the investigator replied that they had been taken for re-examination which could last for a few months.

They refused to return the sound equipment and the diesel generator. They were seized immediately after the detention during the search in my car and were taken to the police department of the Pershamaiski district. However, today I've been told that they are in the city traffic police department. When I arrived there I was told that they had nothing and I should go to the RUVD. Perhaps, an official complaint or lawyer will help," Jauhen Afnahel told Charter97.org.

It will be recalled that Andrei Sannikov's books were confiscated from journalist Iryna Khalip when crossing the border on Privalki crossing point last November. They were sent for examination, however, nothing illegal was revealed. Three months later books were returned.
