Former Shklou Chief Is Jailed

Resident of Shklou was sentenced to 7 years in a penal colony for taking bribes from convicts, Natallia Shliamneva, the senior assistant to the prosecutor of Shklou district, informed.

This citizen, serving in the internal affairs bodies as chief of the detachment of the correctional process department of the correctional institution executing punishment in the form of imprisonment, delivered to the guarded territory of the correctional colony and handed to the convicts serving their sentences in this correctional colony mobile phones, tablet computers, digital players (players), headsets, SIM cards, memory cards, toilet water, foreign currency, alcoholic beverages and medicines prohibited for use by convicts in the institution.

From April to October 2015, he also repeatedly took money and material values as a bribe from convicts serving sentences in the correctional colony, their relatives and friends.

As provided for by Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 430, Part 1 of Article 71, Part 2 of Article 426, Part 2 and Part 6 of Article 72 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Shklou District Court sentenced Mr. M. to a 7 years imprisonment in a penal colony under with confiscation of property. Besides, the court imposed a ban to occupy posts related to the performance of the functions of a government representative for a period of 5 years on him and deprived him of a special rank - senior lieutenant of internal service.
