The politician has just been re-elected as Chairman of the Conservative Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front.
The XI Congress of the Conservative Christian Party of the BPF was held on Sunday, June 18 in Minsk. 101 delegates participated in the work of the Congress, nn.by writes.
The event strated with a minute of silence: the present honoured the memory of the members of the organization who passed away in the recent years, and Julia Kachuk, the daughter of the CCP-BPF activist from Zelva.
The Congress heard Zianon Pazniak’s report named “Let us make the free Belarus closer”.
“In the severe conditions of the occupying anti-Belarusian regime, the activists of the party preserved optimism and faith in victory, and successfully convinced a considerable part of our society in the necessity of fighting for the free, democratic and independent Belarus — our common home — by their own example,” — stated in the party’s press-release.
As a result, Zianon Pazniak was re-elected as Chairman of the party by sigle vote. There was no rotation with regard to other positions either. Yury Belenki remained acting Chairman at the territory of Belarus, Siarhei Papkou remained a Deputy Chairman.
Zianon Pazniak is 73. He has been in emigration since 1996.
