Shunevich On $ 270,000 Theft From Ministry Of Internal Affairs: We Were Not Able To Bring Him To Justice

The former Interior Ministry employee is in Romania.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihar Shunevich, the man, who has stolen 270 thousand dollars from the safe of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is on the Interpol’s wanted list and will be extradited to Belarus as soon as he leaves the country, in which he has obtained citizenship, tut.by writes.

– Unfortunately, we could not bring him to criminal responsibility, the foreign state refused to extradite him, since he’s got this country’s citizenship. But he is on the Interpol’s wanted list. As soon as he leaves the country, he will be extradited to Belarus for criminal prosecution, – Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich said.

We remind that during last Christmas holidays, almost 270 thousand dollars were stolen from the safe in the building where the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus is situated.

A former Interior Ministry employee is suspected of theft. He took the money from his partner's safe with the help of a spare key. He left for Ukraine from Belarus, and then for Romania. There, he was detained by Interpol, but then released, since he had got the citizenship of that country.
