New Type Of Military Service To Be Introduced In Belarus – Following The Ukrainian Model

"Deputies" have already passed the law in the first reading.

A new type of military service will appear in Belarus - a mobilized service. Today, "deputies" adopted amendments to the laws on defense in the first reading, tut.by reports.

According to Defense Minister Andrei Raukou, the mobilized service "will remove a lot of questions that our southern neighbor has encountered."

– Our Armed Forces are practicing all the issues regarding the war in peacetime. And one of the issues is mobilization. Perhaps it is time to consider them and understand certain things. Especially, having studied the experience of our southern neighbor who, after giving up her urgent service, fell into such a situation that she had to conduct partial mobilization in the country. They had to solve the problem on the hoof, by fast work of the parliament, the government of the country, the head of state. If we have a mobilization service, we will have the opportunity to study, train and prepare in peacetime for such operations as organization and realization of mobilization activities, Andrei Raukou said in the "parliament".

The Minister explained that while serving the mobilized service in the peacetime soldiers will train the issues, which can arise in the martial law, so as not to walk into the same water twice.

– These will be exercises, training, recalls. In Ukraine, during the partial mobilization, there were many problems while carrying out these tasks: problems with the status of mobilized people, with the order of work with them, their provision – we will train these issues in peacetime and will be ready during the war.
