The political prisoner on the Patriot Case will appeal to the court against the Ministry of Finance, the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The activist of the Young Front Dzmitry Kramyanetski appealed to the State Security Committee with a statement on issuing a resolution on compensation of harm, spring96.org informs.

The young man believes that his detention was unlawful. In addition, Dzmitry was taken to all interrogations with a black bag on his head which was obviously aimed at intimidation and psychological pressure; it damaged him and also humiliated his human dignity.

As soon as the decision is issued Dzmitry plans to file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Finance, the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to cover material and moral damage, as well as to cover expenses for legal aid.

Lawyer of the HRC Viasna Aliaksei Loika who helped the activist to write the statement notes that in accordance with Art. 462 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in the presence of grounds, the body conducting the criminal proceedings is obliged to recognize the right to compensation for damage, the damage inflicted is clarified in the statement.

"In accordance with Article 460, para 1 of the CCP damage inflicted to a citizen as a result of unlawful detention, detention on remand and house arrest, temporary removal from office, admission to an in-patient psychiatric facility, conviction, use of mandatory safety measures and treatment, is reimbursed by the state in full regardless the guilt of the person conducting the inquiry - investigator, prosecutor, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus or persons performing their duties", the lawyer stresses.

It will be recalled that Dzmitry Kramyanetski was detained by the KGB on suspicion of "preparation of mass riots" on 23March 2017. On June 2, the senior investigator for especially important cases of 1 department of the KGB investigation department A.V. Hryb issued a decree to end the criminal prosecution against the "Young Front" member because of absence of the event of a crime.
