Neo-Nazis Beaten Up Viachaslau Kasinerau And His Friends

Neo-Nazis Beaten Up Viachaslau Kasinerau And His Friends
VIACHASLAU KASINERAU

The attack on the activist occurred in the center of Maladzechna.

Activist Viachaslau Kasinerau has told Svaboda about the fight in the Central Square of Maladzechna: on June 21, 20-25 people of neo-Nazi views attacked him and three of his friends from over political views. Kasinerau has a broken nose and a closed craniocerebral injury.

"There was a five-fold number of attackers, they were beating the girls as well"

"It was rather a beating up that a fight," Kasinerau says.

According to him, there were about 20-25 attackers, but his friends saw several "jam-packed cars driving around the city and searching for him and friends." Kasinerau says that they were beating the girls as well.

"Neo-Nazis attacked, I had a sweatshirt made by anarchists from Ukraine, it was clear from my appearance who I was and what I was, perhaps someone recognized me," – Kasinerau says. – Probably they were beating for the outfit, but they were surprised with the Belarusian language during the short conversation that happened there.

I did not particularly have the opportunity to fight back, since it was happening on the Central Square of Maladzechna. I was surprised at such insolent behavior of the people. I always come across some kind of street violence, but people usually understood where they were doing it, that they couldn’t do it in front of cameras, that there are some norms of behavior. When there is a large number of opponents, political or football ones, some people come up with proposals "to fight in even", for example "two against two". Such proposals were this time too, but I realized that no one is going to fight with me in even strength and then let me go."

"They are either very stupid, or this is some kind of provocation, cooperation"

"There was no police, though it was the center on the city. It all ended up with knocking me to the ground and beating me up badly. 5-7 people beat me up. As a result, my nose is broken and I have a closed craniocerebral injury. And that was it – they beat us and we went. But we were still guarded to the station, approached. But they did not dare to attack near the station."

Kasinerau said that the police called him regarding the fight. But he is not going to file an application with the police, because "he does not really believe that such methods work in our country.

"And again, the impudent behavior of the Nazis shows that, most likely, they understood what they were doing and where. I have two explanations: either they are so stupid that they are ready to attack someone under the cameras in the center of the city, or this is some kind of provocation, cooperation.

I realized that I was in a crowded place where there were cameras. And my comrades-in-arms, anti-fascists, are in prison now, so if I start defending myself with all my strength, they will initiate a criminal case against me. It's not likely that I will settle the issue by involving the police."

Maladzechna police refused to comment on the incident.

Maladzechna ROVD sent the correspondent of Svaboda to the Press Service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. Head of the Press Service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk Oblast Executive Committee is away. The employees promised to check the information and report in an hour.

Viachaslau Kasinerau is an activist with anarchist views, figurant in the "case of graffiti", was recently fined for a noose around the neck of the "tsar's policeman". Earlier, police chief Aliaksandr Barsukou called the monument to the policeman a "sacred place." After the trial, Kasinerau assumes that special services might be following him: thus, they wanted to detain him when he was sending letters to the prison.
