Belarusian MFA: Moscow And Minsk Forged Relations Of "Strategic Alliance"

An "active political dialogue" at all levels is carried out between the countries.

Over the years since the diplomatic relations were established, Belarus and Russia have forged relations of "strategic alliance" that meet the peoples’ interests in the two countries. This was declared in a joint statement by the Russian and Belarusian Foreign Ministries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which the Belarusian Foreign Ministry posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, Tass reports.

"June 25, 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, – the statement says. – Over the years, the relations of "strategic alliance" have been forged, meeting the peoples’ aspirations in our countries."

The document notes that an "active political dialogue" is held between the countries at all levels. "The stable infrastructure of cooperation, created over the past years,- allows us to find mutually acceptable solutions on any problematic subjects of the bilateral agenda," – the statement notes.

It emphasizes that Belarus and Russia are among the most "active participants of integration associations" in the CIS space, are the locomotive of the new multilateral initiatives’ promotion. This has respect to the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS, the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

"We stand for multilateral and collective approaches to resolving pressing global and regional problems, the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, the rejection of the policy of sanctions and unilateral economic and trade restrictions," – the statement says.

It emphasizes that the parties intend to continue coordinating approaches on the OSCE agenda’s most acute topics at the OSCE site, advocating the reform of the organization. "Russia and Belarus continue to coordinate their relations with the European Union, and also intend to make joint efforts to establish links between the EAEC and the EU," – the document says.
