May Notable For This Year’s Record-Breaking Number Of Fired Belarusians

The Belarusian enterprises still more actively fire than hire.

In May, the enterprises in May fired 62,6 thousand people, according to the website of Belstat. At the same time, organizations hired 13% (or 14,4 thousand people) less than dismissed. This is the worst indicator since May last year, tut.by writes.

The enterprises have been more active in firing people rather than accepting new employees for 7 months in a row by now.

Education stands out with regard to the number of dismissed employees - 54,8% more fired than hired.

The ratio of those employed and dismissed at the enterprises differs by region. For example, in Minsk region, 15,7% more people lost their jobs compared to those who found a new one. Brest region went into the red with regard to this indicator by 19,9%, Vitsebsk - by 14%, and Hrodna - by 31,6%.

The last time the enterprises hired more actively than dismissed was in October last year.

In 2016, the enterprises fired almost 719,5 thousand people, and employed 108,1 thousand less.
