Of the 756 employees who received injuries at work with severe consequences, 120 people died.

This statistics was voiced by judge of the Supreme Court Valiantsina Kulik, tut.by writes.

According to the judge, the number of people who lost work capacity after accidents at work is decreasing. In 2012, there were 2079 such victims, and in 2016 — 1476.

In 2012, 169 people died out of 890 seriously injured, in 2016 — 120 people out of 756, according to Valiantsina Kulik.

Last year, every third of those injured at workplace with severe consequences worked in the Minsk region and Minsk (140 and 129 cases).

In other regions, the picture was as follows: Vitsebsk region — 117 victims, Homel — 101, Brest — 96, Hrodna — 91, Mahiliou — 82.

Valiantsina Kulik notes that the most problematic area in terms of injuries is construction:

It's not just about insufficient provision of safe working conditions, but also about the careless, on the verge of disorder, attitude of the employees themselves to the observance of safety precautions and their health. Even having, for example, a helmet, safety rope and other devices to work at height, some builders for some reason do not want to use them. Here is a recent example. An employee with special equipment was sent to demolish an old house. The process involved knowledge, tools and a specific program of action. He was told: go there, do nothing and wait for the instructions. He came to the site, but did not wait. He began to work independently and ... died under a collapsed wall. In some hazardous industries, special protective equipment is required. But workers, when they work, often neglect it.

At the same time, the statistics on professional diseases has practically remained unchanged in 10 years: about 90-100 victims of occupational diseases are identified annually.
