Kiryl Rudy: Chinese Businessmen And Journalists Were Kept Waiting In Minsk Airport For Hour

The Ambassador of Belarus in China spoke about the Minsk "cordial" reception of guests from the Celestial Empire.

The development of trade and economic relations between Belarus and China is hampered by a banal ignorance of the language – documents of Belarusian manufacturers are simply turned down because of mistakes, and specific Belarusian "hospitality" when entering the country. According to the ONT television channel, these issues were touched upon at the meeting on the priorities of Belarus' foreign policy, nn.by writes.

Belarus' Ambassador to China Kiryl Rudy drew the president's attention to the repeatedly raised issue, hindering the development of tourism and business contacts.

"The president of China's largest tourism corporation, a respectable lady, flew in to Minsk. As she told me later, she was met at the passage gate with a "VIP" sign, then taken to a separate room, where her luggage was being checked for forty minutes, each banknote in her wallet was counted, all the files in her personal computer were rechecked. Two months later her working group arrived with journalists. And again hour-long passport and customs control remained as their main impression of the country. And this was via the Vip channel," – Kiryl Rudy said.

The Ambassador proposed to make the year 2018 in relations with China to be a year of tourism – with simplified control, and also to expand the study of the Chinese language in Belarus.

"I absolutely support you. All your proposals will not only be taken into account, but decisions will be taken on them. But these facts, that we are gutting the people who have been invited here, it's unacceptable... "– Aliaksandr Lukashenka agreed.

It was noted at the meeting that last year the number of Chinese tourists reached 122 million. 20 thousand got to Belarus.
