The politician and poet has stated that the participants of the Seventh Congress of the Belarusians of the World are not going to meet the regime half-way.
The Seventh Congress of the Belarusians of the World, where they discussed the situation in the country, ended in Minsk.
The main theme of the congress was the strategy of the Belarusian nation and statehood’s development. In addition to the issue of human rights, the Congress delegates were concerned about the state of the Belarusian language and the reality of Belarus' independence, Belsat reports.
"This false to the core power, which took its roots in soviet era, will not allow us to build Belarus. These people (diaspora - note) understand this - they have been doing what was necessary for Belarus and they will go on doing this," – the poet and politician Uladzimir Niakliayeu said.
The Congress marked the activity of the Belarusian diaspora in helping the victims of the actions of the authorities in March this year.
"The reaction to the events of March 2017 was very strong, there was a very big desire to help. This indicates that the Belarusians in California are following what is happening in Belarus. This stimulated us to collect 3000 dollars within one week for the first time, as far as I know," – Nadzeya Norton, a Belarusian from California, says.
