The KGB Got Laid off

The Belarusian special service is experiencing global perturbations.

The State Security Committee (KGB) is experiencing global structural perturbations and a redundancy. The central apparatus of the special service has head offices reorganized, and it is planned to ditch territorial divisions at a lower level, popular Belarusian blogger d-zholik writes.

In addition to the existing in the central apparatus of the KGB, a new main department for special events and research has been created.

The Main Directorate of Economic Security of the KGB is reorganized into the Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Support of Economic Objects.

The Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Support of Law Enforcement and Supervisory Bodies, against Corruption and Organized Crime of the KGB, which was run by Ihar Shunevich from July 2009 to January 2012, was reorganized into the Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Support of Law Enforcement and Supervisory Bodies.

In recent years the KGB has recorded an acute shortage of personnel and a multiple decrease in the number of graduates of the departmental Institute of National Security who have been assigned to operational work in units. Five years ago the organization was even forced to declare an open recruitment for service under a contract.

And in 2013 during the first wave of optimization of the state apparatus, Lukashenka was zealously defended the department: "The KGB has no one to dismiss. I don't wantto talk about figures, but even a cleaner can't be fired."

Not much time has passed, and at the leadership level plans have already been approved for reduction (liquidation) of inter-district KGB offices that existed in the regions since the times of the USSR. Their responsibilities are supposed to be transferred to territorial units of the KGB in cities of regional subordination and major administrative centers.

It will be recalled that earlier the blogger informed about serious personnel problems in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
