Blogger Eduard Palchys fined $230

The blogger and the former political prisoner Eduard Palchys learned about this from the bailiff who called him this morning.

It turned out that the hearing on the blogger's case was held on May 2. He was tried for holding a speech at a rally in defense of Kurapaty, held on March 3. The penalty was 20 basic units. But he did not receive a paper or SMS notification.

As Eduard Palchys said to Svaboda, August 11 was the last day when he could pay a fine without being charged penalty for delay.

"I have to pay. But it's an outrage that there were no notifications of either a court or a fine. If I were not in the city now, they would have already started to charge the penalty for the delay of payment," – Palchys said.
