"Golden Earthforks" in the Flank of the Belarusian Economy

"Golden Earthforks" in the Flank of the Belarusian Economy

Belarusian officials came to an end with import substitution.

For long I have asked my son-in-law to bring me earthforks which are necessary on my microscopic farm. I have always had them at hand, and now they are gone. Perhaps, someone took them away.

And now my son-in-law brought me them. In knocked down condition. He laughts and shows me "golden earthforks". Indeed, the tool is painted in bronze, and labeled - manure fork, produced in China. In general, the Chinese, apparently, have the tradition to paint all the tools in bright colors.

The price is 8.74 rubles.

I suggested that that was way the Belarusians paid out tied loans of the People's Republic of China granted to the leadership of our country to support the Chinese economy and to keep the body of the national economy afloat. Most likely, it is true. But a greater interest was paid to the label of the handle, according to it, OOO Alsan imported it from...Switzerland.

This handle costs 3.48 rubles.

The son-in-law claims that he bought Belarusian screws. Perhaps. But all these parts (three) indicate the role of Belarus in the world economy, demonstrate economic prospects of the country and, as repeatedly stressed, ambitious tasks of its leadership. Svetlana Alliluyeva once said something of this kind: "Soviets reach for the space, but pick potatoes шт a grandfather's way." That was a good but evil joke. Myasnikovich has recently joked when claiming that a Belarusian would explore the space on his own spaceship. It sounded like a non-science fiction and, at the same time, like an evil mockery of "nefarious reality" and scary future of Belarusians who will explore the space with Chinese "golden earthforks" in their hands.

In fact, you can strictly ask the leadership where fruits of import substitution are, where results of modernization of wood processing. The leadership usually tells lies or ignores this topic. Since the true answer to these questions is trivial, it is determined by the economy, the created economic system that allows the leadership to do whatever it likes without bearing any responsibility for decisions made.

In this connection, it is better not to remember about the "Great Stone" for the night. Even Swiss handles do not please, even Belarusian screws do not console. Being a long-term "user" of this tool, I maintain that my former earthforks are much better than modern Chinese, since the latter once are made very sloppy, and under some unthinkable technology for the 21st century. And I guess that the Chinese super large-scale involvement in the production of everything, anything, allows to produce cheap eathforks in such quantity to flood the whole world market with its products.

Chairman Mao was right when asserting that the rifle gives power, and do "golden earthforks" open the way to world domination today?!

On the other hand, I recall groups of "Minsk dreamers" who believed that in 10-20 years Belarus would be Soviet, and the richest one in the post-Soviet space. They, of course, relied on a real liberalization of the economy, social relations, real democracy (they only argued about what was primary in this matter), but, as everyone now knows, everything was done "in some degree". Within a quarter of the century the Belarusians have changed, they buy foreign cars, which are used in 90%, but the overall standard of living compared to the European one probably has even dropped. With good reason Lidziya Yermoshina lamented for on TV while talking about necessity to tighten the social policy: well, guys, you live not in Switzerland. Knock down a peg...

In addition to a high standard of living, Switzerland has a highly developed economy and, with almost complete lack of raw materials, exports, among other things, high-precision machinery and equipment, investment goods that are bought by all economically leading countries. And the Belarusian industry produces only what can be sold to its unpretentious customers in the same unsuccessful neighboring countries. At the same time, we constantly lose our markets and have practically lost our own market.

There is much more Chinese electronics, household appliances, tools and other small things than Belarusian ones in my house and on the farm. Most of instruments, however, were acquired under the previous authority. And only nails are the product of modern domestic latest things.

I would be happy to "buy Belarusian", but where is it? In price and quality. Shelves are filled with Chinese products, even if it brokes, one can go and easily buy another one.

However, the only Swiss thing in my household is the mentioned handle for "golden earthforks". It looks as usual, does not differ from ordinary Belarusian ones, the production of which Mikhail Myasnikovich recommended to establish by the forces of the unemployed in the spring. Only the price is surprising. It turns out that the price should be very high, since the average Swiss salary in 10-15 (and maybe more) exceeds the Belarusian salary. If it reaches out to the desirable long-promised $500. But the handle costs 3.48 rubles, I repeat. And Belarusian sellers offer "dried birch handle" at 18 rubles.

As a result, it turns out that the Chinese "golden earthforks" with the Swiss handle and Belarusian screws cost me only 12.33 rubles, it is 2/3 of the price of the handle of domestic production.

The fact itself speaks about the state of affairs and prospects for the future and does not require comments.

Konstantin Skuratovich, Belrynok
