The city and the district will become a "bugbear" for the current government.

If in 1994 the Belarusians were electing the head of state between Pazniak and Aliaksandr, and a day earlier, Vorsha got a new leader – Aliaksandr Pazniak. The post of chairman of the Vorsha District Executive Committee is rather a downgrade for an official who used to work as Lukashenka’s assistant, for Vorsha district, as the dictator believes, it’s a chance to "rise from the ruins and ashes," Belsat reports.

"It must be reconstructed, modernized, and you are a person who deals with it. This is my presidential assignment. You will not stay unattended there. I visit the district several times a year. For me this is a matter of principle," Lukashenka told Pazniak.

Everything is spinning round, but in the wrong direction

Lukashenka gave similar order to the previous nominee to Vorsha district, Leanid Piankouski, three months ago. "You know what you need to do there, start to put the screws on, to tighten them, but you have to deal with the situation as soon as possible," – he said.

Everything is spinning round, but, it seems that in the wrong direction. A few days later, a scandal broke out in Vorsha: the police broke into the house of the newly appointed head of the executive committee, as he had not appeared at work. According to rumors – because of binge-drinking, according to the official explanation – due to poor health.

A morbid official was replaced by a man with Komsomol hardening

"There are not enough people. They are being shuffled back and forth. Pazniak is not a new person, too. He has got some experience, which allows him to understand the system in which he works. But it’s hardly possible that he has obtained a new concept and initiative during this time. Most likely, all the initiatives have vanished. After all, this system is not initiative friendly," – journalist Ihar Kazmiarchak says.

"Vorsha is a "bugbear" for the president now"

Will an experienced vertical worker, a former businessman and ... an unemployed person be able to fulfill hopes of Vorsha residents? Aliaksandr Pazniak, who used to live on unemployment benefit in the early 2000s, must understand the desperation of people who cannot feed themselves.

"Vorsha is now a "bugbear" for the president, for the administration and for the Council of Ministers. Great events might happen here, especially in the fall. Prices will have grown by that time and there will be more unemployed, Vorsha residents will come to the Square!" – Vasil Berasneu, a BNC representative in Vorsha, says.

Lukashenka dismissed Mikalai Lisouski, who was in charge of Vorsha district for 9 years, because of the spring Square.
