Russian Military Begin Drills In Training Area Near Barysau

Forces and means of logistics and support take part in the military drills.
This week, on August 21 - 25, special joint exercises of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation are held at the Barysauski training ground, as well as at some other sites in Minsk, Vitsebsk and Mahiliou regions, and at the permanent deployment sites of the military logistics units, ex-press.by writes.
The forces and means of logistics, technical (material and technical) support are involved in the exercises. They are to demonstrate the ability to "solve joint tasks in the period of increased security threats".
Three deputy defense ministers from both countries officer the exercises. Belarus is represented by the Deputy Minister of Defense for Logistics – the Chief of Logistics and the Deputy Minister of Defense for Armaments – the Chief of Armaments. These posts are occupied respectively by Major-General Andrei Burdyka and Siarhei Simanenka.
From the Russian side, the exercises are led by army general, Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Dmitry Bulgakov, who has arrived in St. Petersburg from Moscow.
At the exercises the troops will be trained to provide technical support of facilities on the sections of military highways, to organize engineering and technical support for landing on the airfield sections of the roads and the re-flight of aircrafts.
In addition, ammunition loading areas for vehicles equipped with mechanic means of loading operations will be provided. Evacuation, repair and recovery of defective equipment and weapons will be trained as well.
During the exercises, it is planned to deploy a field overland pipeline, as well as to organize mass filling stations for machinery, baking and bread dispensing.
We remind that on August 16, a large column of covered trucks with Russian license plates was caught on video at the entrance to the military camp of Pechy in Barysau, where the 72nd Joint Training Center of the Armed Forces of Belarus is located.
