Ukraine Supports Belarus’ Independent Trade Unions

The authorities must stop the persecution of REP trade union activists.

The Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine sent a letter of support to the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Union organizations in connection with the regular violations of the rights of independent trade unions in Belarus, the bkdp.org site writes.

We remind that on August 2, the independent REP trade union office was searched by employees of the Financial Investigation Department of the State Control Committee. Trade union leaders were accused of "non-payment of taxes".

At the moment, REP trade union deputy chairman Ihar Komlik is in Volodarka, human rights activists have recognized him as a political prisoner.
