Lukashenka’s Administrative Department Sells BMW Wanted By Interpol

The dingy car was sold with quite a good mark-up.

"The vehicle is wanted by the Interpol line, exploitation is possible only at the territory of Belarus,"- the “Vostochny” mall, which is managed by Lukashenka's office managers, sold the car with such a warning. According to the representative of the confiscate, the original cost was even lower (Bn 65,540, or $ 34,5 thousand) and grew during the trades at the auction, euroradio.fm reports.

It wasn’t the first case of selling cars that are on the wanted list: for example, another confiscated car is wanted by Interpol and is now being sold, it's a truck Daf Xf460.

Representatives of the traffic police say that such a car will be registered only after checking all documents, and a check regarding the involvement of the new owner in the "criminal past" of this car.

In addition, a request will be made to Interpol, the answer to it usually takes about a month and will be something like this: "The car is on the wanted list in such and such a country from such and such a period."

In the answer of Interpol there will be one more note - "The information on car detection is sent to the initiator of the search," that is, the previous owner. Most likely, he has already received insurance compensation for his car, and now the car belongs to the insurance company. Representatives of these companies can take the car from the new owner on absolutely legal grounds, through the court.

If this does not happen, the new owner will still use it with restrictions.

The Belarusian authorities do not impose a ban on traveling abroad on such a car, but it is dangerous to go there. The first policeman will see in the database that the car is listed as a hijacked vehicle. However, at the territory of Belarus you can go quietly.

Usually the term of the cars in the Interpol base is 10 years, but if the vehicle is found and the former owner is not needed - maybe less. However, the Interpol does not inform that it removes a car from the wanted list. It is simply removed from the database, and during the next check the car is already "clean". Therefore, if you want to find out if the restrictions have been lifted off the car, you will have to periodically ask the traffic police to check the database - in person or by phone.

You can sell such a machine only by proxy, since it can not be removed from the register.
