‘Outraged Belarusians’ March 2.0’ To Be Held In Minsk On October 21

The action starts at 2 p.m. in the Kastrychnitskaya Square.

This is said in the statement of the Council of the Belarusian National Congress, published on the official website of the BNC.

The date of the action was changed upon the requests of opposition activists from the regions. Here is the full text of the statement:

— Many people in the regions want to take part in the “Outraged Belarusians’ March 2.0”. Under their requests, the Belarusian National Congress postpones the action from Friday, October 20, to Saturday, October 21. The March will start at 2 p.m. in the Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk. The route of the “Outraged Belarusians’ March 2.0” will be defined by its participants in the beginning of the event.

Holding of the “Outraged Belarusians’ March 2.0” was announced right after the September 8 Warning Action had been over. The Council of the Belarusian National Congress called on Belarusians to come out to the street and express their protest against new extortions, growing of prices and communal tariffs, as well as to achieve the final abolishment of the scandalous Decree on “social parasites”:

— The main boss, having calmed down by the temporary break in the street actions, returned to his insane idea to take money from the unemployed. A sharp rise of the communal services tariffs started. Real wages of people are falling, pensions do not keep pace with the growing prices. They come up with a variety of ways to get into the pockets of people. It came to the point that the amount of fines from citizens exceeds all the social expenses of the state.

We can stop the robbery of the people in only one way — to show again to those who illegally rule the country and get into our pockets, that we are not a "silent majority". By an active protest, we must force them to reduce their appetites and return to the people the legitimate right to choose a new government, capable of leading the country out of the crisis.

The first Outraged Belarusians’ March was held in Minsk on February 17. The action became the most massive protest of the Belarusians after the 2010 Square and steered social protests across the country.
