Volha Mikalaichyk: Lukashenka Seems To Be Afraid Of Me And Viniarski

The authorities cannot influence the resolve and commitment of the activists in any way.

In the evening, after 10 days of arrest, documentary director and public activist Volha Mikalaichyk, detained on the eve of the rally at Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk on September 8, left the detention center in Akrestsin Street, Radio Racyja reports.

She was convicted in absentia for participation in the unauthorized meeting on July 3. And she was forcibly detained on the way out of the store in Minsk in the evening on September 4.

Volha was met by more than a dozen relatives, friends and associates in Akrestsin street. She told them about the conditions of detention, which she called a "legalized torture". She confirmed that she was not afraid of repression and was convinced that she was on the right track.

"Lukashenka seems to be most afraid of me and Viniarski, not the youngest ones, if he even had set Statkevich free!" – she said to the general laughter of those present.

As a creative person, until the end of the year, Volha thinks to concentrate on working on the documentary film "Hulah Bulbash" about the events around Kurapaty and about the tortures of its victims. She expects to present it at the nearest international film forum in Riga. But the shooting and editing are going to be done in Ukraine, where you can rent equipment with impunity.
