Chechnya Segodnya: Kadyrov's Visit to Minsk Is of a Landmark Nature

How did the Chechen media cover Ramzan Kadyrov's meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka?

"Kadyrov's visit, as a person of influence in the Russian political space, is of a landmark nature demonstrating a generalized character of Russia for neighboring states, former Soviet republics the essence of which lies in a creative approach. In any case, it's a good example for imitation for other Russian leaders. Moreover, time itself requires joint efforts to overcome consequences of the global crisis and the negative effect of sanctions," Chechnya Segodnya wrote.

The newspaper notes that two dictators easily found a common language:

"Two charismatic leaders quite naturally managed to find, so to speak, a common language, as they stand on positions of statehood and patriotism. These are not high-sounding words, but the reflection of effective policy in the regions. Time has proved the effectiveness of measures practiced by both leaders in their republics. And, accordingly, their actions reflecting the urgent need for strong power form a clear outline of prospects, so to speak, pro et contra, both in terms of the historical path and the socio-political formation. Both leaders are harshly criticized for domestic policies primarily by the liberals. Those who, for example, would engage in the sale of Russia starting an "auction" with the Kuril Islands with a great pleasure.

Lukashenka did not allow the Maidan in the republic to follow the Kyiv scenario, severely suppressing anti-state actions of a so-called opposition, in fact - the western branch of the "soft power". And his actions were supported by the Chechen leader who personally knows what social and political cataclysms lead to: he grew up at a time when chaos and lawlessness became the norm, and it was necessary to get out of this. At that, Lukashenka make maneuvers between powers realizing pros and cons of bloc relationships. He did not allow to turn his country into a base of anti-Russian policy with all catastrophic consequences both for the image of Belarus and its economy."

Chechnya Segodnya notes that in many respects both rulers have much in common:

"The Kadyrov's visit to Belarus proves it. By the way, previously a large Belarusian delegation of businessmen and industrialists visited Chechnya. It proves a serious intention of the dialogue and cooperation. As they say, "not for a show". Naturally, their impressions and opinions will influence the nature of planned actions in the matter of possible economic cooperation during the visit of the Chechen delegation to Minsk. During the first post-Soviet decade Belarus managed to maintain its industrial potential relying on the ability to protect its economic interests. The example, say the least of it, is worth of respect and study. Chechnya needs the industrial component of the economy to be developed; the future of such a republic with great potential is inconceivable without it."
