Authorities Found New "Tunnel" For Belarusians’ Money

"Potemkin villages" will be created in the country.

Two types of electric transport can soon appear in cities with a population of more than 50 thousand people – a trolleybus and a tram. This is stipulated by the Council of Ministers resolution No. 654 of August 25, 2017, which clarifies certain components of the system of state social standards for servicing the population, the Economic Newspaper writes.

The document amends the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of May 30, 2003, No. 724 "On Measures for the Implementation of the State Social Standards System for Servicing the Population of the Republic", which established the minimum standards of the system of state social standards for servicing the population in the field of housing and communal services, education, culture, transport, social services, health, trade, public catering and consumer services.

The most interesting innovations are in the field of transport. In particular, the norm of servicing the population with urban transport for towns with more than 50 thousand people is supplemented by such types of transport as trolleybus and tram. At that every 1.5 thousand people should be served by 1 bus (trolleybus, tram). And Minsk standard has been set taking into account the transportation of passengers by 4 types of transport, including the metro – 1 bus (trolley, tram, subway car) for 2 thousand people. At that, these standards are set taking into account the transportation of passengers in regular service during the workdays, weekends and holidays.

The developers of Resolution No. 654 also paid attention to the cultural life in agro-towns. Each of them should have at least one club and a library or one mixed culture organization that carries out cultural and educational activities. The cinema is also not forgotten: the document requires the provision of all agro-towns with services for showing films using stationary or mobile equipment.

In addition, the standards for the provision of social services to the population (1 center for the administrative district), as well as the provision of household services in rural areas have been changed: a 100 per cent "coverage" is provided for repair of clothing, footwear, furniture, household appliances, repair and maintenance of household electronic equipment, rental services, hairdressing services, photo services, acceptance of orders for laundry and dry cleaning and the manufacture of ritual supplies.

The resolution No. 654 entered into force on September 1, 2017.
