Leanid Kulakou: Let’s Come Out All Together, Shoulder To Shoulder On March 25
Leanid Kulakou

On such an important day as the 100th anniversary of the BPR, we must be in the center of the capital.

Activist of the “European Belarus” civil campaign told this in an interview for the Charter97.org, speaking about the importance of marking the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic on March 25 in Minsk city center.

— What does the day of proclamation of the independence of the Belarusian People’s Republic mean to you?

— I was born in Minsk. For me, March 25 is a sacred holiday. Then, in 1918, our country declared itself independent. I cannot even tell how lucky we are to be the descendants of the people who formed the BPR.

I believe that every Belarusian should mark this important day in spite of everything. The authorities can resist, but except as in the Square, we have nowhere to be heard and seen.

We all have to congratulate each other on this memorable date. Those who will come to the center of Minsk on March 25 will be real heroes! I call on everyone: do not be afraid, come out! After all, this is our sacred holiday!

— Why is it important to come exactly to the center of Minsk on March 25?

— You know, celebrating in the outskirts means no respect to ourselves, to our ancestors. On such an important day we must be in the center of the capital!

I would like to invite workers, working collectives to the celebration. Moreover, March 25 this year falls on Sunday, the non-working day.

No one should stay aside! Those who love Belarus, love Belarusians, should solemnly mark the 100th anniversary of the BPR. Let us come out, all together, arm to arm, shoulder to shoulder.

That is how our nation will unite!
