Minsker Saved Sinking Pensioner With Dog-Lead

Ice broke under an elderly man in a place with a depth of 10 meters.

On January 13, an elderly citizen fell through the ice at the Tsnianski water-storage basin, the Minsk-Novosti agency reported with reference to the head of the Tsnianskaya rescue station Heorhi Zhabrouski.

– It happened more than a kilometer from the rescue station, where the depth of the water-storage basin reaches 8-10 meters. The pensioner went about 5-6 meters from the shore and fell through ice," – Zhabrouski said. – A Minsker, walking nearby with a dog first responded to his cries. He crawled to the sinking man and pulled him onto the ice with a dog-lead. And then an employee of rescue station came up– he was making a detour around the territory of the reservoir and was on the far side of the shore from the drowning man. The pensioner was taken to the base of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which is located 500 meters from the place.
