The street procession will be the culmination point in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the BPR.

On January 22, an expanded meeting of the organizing committee for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic was held in the office of the Belarusian Popular Front party in Minsk.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign Yauhen Afnahel told Charter97.org about it:

– Yesterday the organizing committee to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic considered the results of the work of the working group and approved them.

We have agreed that it is the organizing committee that deals with all issues related to the celebration of the BPR anniversary, and the mass street rally on March 25 will be the main, culminating festive event.

– What working group’s decisions were approved by the organizing committee?

– The organizing committee approved three co-chairmen of the working group responsible for different directions in the preparation for celebrating the 100th anniversary of the BPR. And it approved the plan for holding a street rally in Minsk on March 25.

The street rally is planned on March 25 from 14.00 to 18.00. The gathering of participants is at 14.00-14.45 at Yakub Kolas Square. The procession from Yakub Kolas Square to Freedom Square is planned along Independence Avenue and Lenin Street from 14.45 to 16.00. The rally-concert will be held at the Freedom Square from 16.00 to 18.00.

Also, the organizing committee approved the text of the application to the Minsk city executive committee and the decision that it will be signed by all the organizations, parties, public movements that have decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic in the center of Minsk.

The Organizing Committee also decided to address a number of ministries and departments, as well as the state media, with a proposal to join the celebration of the BNR's 100th anniversary, and, first of all, its preparation. We expect that the authorities will meet us halfway. In any case, the authorities’ response will show how important the independence of Belarus is for them.
