Lukashenka Abolished the Internal Affairs Department For Protection Of Minsk Metro

Its functions have been transferred to the police of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The Internal Affairs Department for the protection of the Minsk Metro has been abolished. It was reported by Lukashenka’s press service on Monday, January 8.

– The functions of the abolished body for responding to applications, reports on crimes, administrative violations and information on incidents at metro facilities are transferred to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the ones on ensuring safe transportation of passengers – to the security service of the Minsk Metro, – the press service informs.

The Internal Affairs Department for the protection of the Minsk Metro was created by the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR and began its work on February 10, 1984. When the first metro line received the first passengers on June 30 of the same year, only 53 people were maintaining law and order at the stations and trains. To date, more than 200 people have been performing this task.
