Luninets Resident "Busted Down" Local Police Officer

A Luninets resident has torn off a shoulder strap from the local police officer’s uniform.

In Luninets, a mother-in-law called the police to calm down her roaring drunk son-in-law. The Luninets resident not only resisted the law enforcers, but even attacked them, Medyja Palesse reports.

The local police inspector arrived on call to sort out domestic scandal. Together with his colleague, he tried to take the drunken man down, but the man did not stop. Then the troublemaker was asked to get into the police car, to which he responded with resistance and obscene language. In addition, the troublemaker tried to push the policeman out, grabbed his uniform, and as a result tore off his shoulder strap.

The policemen were forced to use physical force, special means and brought the violator to the police department.

The official representative of the Brest region investigative committee, Dzmitry Ivaniuk, commented to Medyja Palesse:

– The Luninets district investigative committee department has carried out a check on the fact and opened a criminal case under Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Belarus "Violence or threat of violence against an employee of internal affairs bodies", which stipulates punishment of up to six years of imprisonment.

In December 2017, the Luninets district prosecutor's office sent a similar case to the court for consideration. A resident of Mikashevichy, who also resisted law enforcement officers, is to be tried.
