The independent journalist was making a story about construction works in the tract.

Journalist Volha Chaichyts, who works for the TV channel Belsat, was detained in Kurapaty. Chaichyts was making a piece about the preparatory work for the installation of the memorial in the tract. Later, at the parking lot, the police in uniform came up to her and said that she was detained under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code of Belarus, tut.by writes.

– I’m being detained because yesterday I made a piece about Kurapaty here, – the journalist managed to say. She was taken to the Barauliany police department.

This is not the first Chaichyts’ detention in the current year – she is constantly fined for cooperation with the TV channel Belsat.

In September, they tried to limit the possibility of leaving the country for Volha Chaichyts for allegedly not paying all the fines imposed on her. Volha Chaichyts was supposed to go to Paris, where she had scheduled meetings at the International Federation of Journalists, with representatives of the Reporters Without Borders organization, as well as meetings at the European Parliament and at the European Commission in Brussels, where she planed to talk about the media situation in Belarus.

A day later, the ban on leaving was lifted.
