The authorities got a fright because of Piatrukhin and Kabanau participation in Sunday protest rallies in Brest.

According to human rights activist Uladzimir Vialichkin, at 10.10, blogger Aliaksandr Kabanau reported by phone that police officers had come to his house to detain him. Radio Racyja informs about it.

“Today, Brest blogger Siarhei Piatrukhin was detained in the courtyard at about 9.05. Both he and Kabanau were taken to serve five days of administrative arrest,” – the human rights activist says.

In his opinion, the bloggers were detained today not by chance: on October 21, they will still be serving the administrative arrest and will not be able to come to Lenin Square in Brest, where the opponents of the battery factory construction gather on Sundays.

We remind that Piatrukhin and Kabanau’s trial took place on October 16: they both were found guilty of “violating the law on public events.” The punishment is 5 days of administrative arrest.

At that, after the decisions were made, they remained at large. Before the meetings, they were handed the summons, according to which they were supposed to appear at the Leninski district police department on October 19. The bloggers assumed that on that very day they would be arrested in order to prevent them from feeding the pigeons on next Sunday.

However, as we see, they were detained earlier.

We remind that in the afternoon of October 14, traditional Sunday feeding of pigeons was held at Lenin Square in Brest in protest against the battery factory construction. For the first time during silent rallies, the participants put up a banner with an inscription against the plant.
