Belarusian Wins Texas Programming Competition

Belarusian Hennadz Karatkevich became the winner of the Topcoder Open Marathon in Texas (USA), BelTA informs.

Now our compatriot is a post-graduate student at the University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics in St. Petersburg (Russia).

Topcoder Open is an annual programming tournament. TopCoder Corporation is pursuing it to encourage the developer community. This year, the tournament program included six types of competitions: Algorithm, Development, First2Finish, UI Design, UI Prototype and Marathon.

The Marathon track consisted of four online rounds. Participants had to write a program that finds the most effective response to optimization problems in a given time.

The top 12 participants in the overall standings went to the in-person final in the United States. Hennadz Karatkevich was among them. By the way, he became a finalist in another track – Algorithm: in this kind of competition, the Belarusian took the third place.

Hennadz Karatkevich is a Homel gymnasium graduate. He has won a lot of Russian and international programming competitions, including Google Code Jam, Yandex.Algorithm, VK Cup, Russian Code Cup, Facebook Hacker Cup.
