“Belarusian Amerikanka” By Andrei Sannikov Published In Czech

The book is sold in stores in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The book “My story: Belarusian Amerikanka or Elections Under Dictatorship” by Andrei Sannikov, the leader of the European Belarus civil campaign, a presidential candidate in the 2010 elections, has been published in the Czech Republic.

The author of the book told the website Charter97.org about how the Czech translation was prepared:

“The book was published just yesterday by Volvox Globator publishing house. This is a fairly well-known publishing house that has been working since 1990. At the beginning of this year, this publishing house got interested in translating “Belarusian Amerikanka” into Czech. I met with Michal Hruby, one of the employees of the publishing house.

We met in February, in Prague, in a fairly historical place – the cafe Louvre. This is a very old cafe which opened at the beginning of the last century. The first meeting of the Czechoslovak PEN Club took place there.

This publishing house has already published books of a similar subject – for example, Bukovsky's memoir. We agreed that they would work on the translation of the “Belarusian Amerikanka” into the Czech language. I did some editing especially for the Czech edition of the book.

A month ago, I received a letter from the translator Magda Belkova saying that the translation of the book into Czech was completed and she was very happy to work with that text. And I found out about the release of the book only last night. Therefore, it is difficult for me to give my assessment of the Czech translation – I hope my friends will read the book and express their opinion.

The book was published both in paper and electronic form. Therefore, it is sold online not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia, since the Volvox Globator publishing house traditionally distributes books in the two countries.”

The book “My Story: Belarusian Amerikanka Or Elections Under Dictatorship” was written by Andrei Sannikov in 2014.

It frankly and honestly describes the presidential campaign of 2010, the Square and the essence of the Lukashenka regime.

In February 2016, the publishing house East View Press published the book by Andrei Sannikov in the English language in the United States.

In November 2016, the book “My Story: Belarusian Amerikanka Or Elections Under Dictatorship” with the assistance of Novaya Gazeta was published in Russia.

In December 2016, the book by Andrei Sannikov was translated into Polish and published under the title “Belarusian Roulette.”

Thus, Andrei Sannikov's book is currently available in five languages: Belarusian, Russian, Polish, English and Czech.
