Court Sentenced Investigators And Expert From Miadzel

The KGB was involved in the investigation.

The Maladzechna court has found four investigators and an expert from Miadzel guilty of abuse of power. The men were sentenced to terms ranging from 3 to 4 years, the women were found guilty, but released in the courtroom. The decision was announced by the judge Volha Dubovik, tut.by reports.

Senior investigator Maksim Valeuka was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The head of Miadzel district Investigative Committee department, Aliaksandr Shtura, was sentenced to 3.5 years, and his deputy, Mikhail Sakaldynski, to 3 years. All of them will serve their sentences in a colony with a reinforced regime. They are not allowed to work in the bodies for another five years, the former IC employees deprived of titles.

Investigator Hanna Sakaldynskaya and expert Alena Kabitsenka were sentenced to terms of three years, but with a suspension of sentence for two years. That is, they will remain free if they do not break the law again.

The prosecutor asked to appoint more severe punishment for men – from 4 to 6 years in prison. The defendants and lawyers asked not to deprive women of their liberty – they did not see their minor children while staying in custody for six months.

The women met their relatives with tears. Both the expert and the investigator refused to give comments.

We remind that the Maladzechna court is considering a criminal case against four employees of Miadzel district Investigative Committee department and an expert. Senior investigator Maksim Valeuka is accused of having hit 21-year-old Volha Dauzhuk with a rubber stick in February 2018. The woman filed a statement that her phone had been stolen, but it turned out that she had forgotten it at her friend’s after the disco.

Later, she found a bruise on her body and told her relatives about it, and they turned to the authorities.

According to the prosecution, three other Investigation Committee employees helped their colleague to hush up the case on the use of violence, and the expert forged the results of the examination. The victim makes no secret: because of the alcohol she had drunk, she does not remember everything about the morning after the party, she has no complaints against the accused. The KGB was involved in the investigation.
