Ivonka Survilla: Struggle For Free Democratic Belarus Continues

The appeal of the BPR Rada Chairperson on the occassion of the 98th anniversary of the Slutsk Defense Action.
Chairperson of the BPR Rada Ivonka Survilla addressed to the Belarusian people on the occassion of the 98th anniversary of the Slutsk Defense Action. Radio Racyja has published the appeal:
Dear Compatriots!
The anniversary of the Slutsk Defense Action is coming, filling my heart, as always, with both admiration of the heroism of the Slutsk dwellers who went to die for the life of their Motherland; and sorrow that their sacrifice was in vain – there were too few of them to stop the intruders’ attack, they had no proper weapons and nobody helped them in their struggle. Still, the Slutsk fighters will remain in our memory forever. They went to fight with faith in their truth, not because someone ordered them to, but because they knew that a person has no bigger value than personal freedom and the freedom of their nation. Ninety eight years ago they were ready to sacrifice their lives for freedom!!!
Many things changed in our land for these 98 years. Intruders destroyed millions of Belarus’ best sons and daughters. Those who remained developed an unbelievable instinct of survival, which let them stay alive till now. And thank God for this! However, is that what the Slutsk fighters struggled for? The struggle for the free and democratic Belarus that they held is continued even today.
This year is a jubilee for the Belarusian statehood. However, as we see against the background of the neighbouring countries which celebrate the 100th anniversary of their independence, too, the regime in Belarus actually ignored this extremely important date. At the same time, it became clear for everyone that the danger posed by the aggressive Putin’s Russia is growing. The BPR Rada has warned about this danger for many years. Not many want to hear this though.
The Moscow brainwashing is fulfilling its evil mission. I want to ask each of you, dear compatriots, to recall the heroism of our not so remote ancestors today, and to declare gratitude from the depth of your heart, on behalf of the Belarusian people, for their vivid defense action. They showed all of us how to value the native land!
