‘Doctors’ Case’: ‘BelAseptika’ Owner Detained, Released For $ 1 Mln

The operation was carried out by the KGB.

According to tut.by, on December 6, KGB men detained one of BelAseptika's owners Andrei Krasilnikau. He was suspected of giving bribes in the “doctors’ case”. Three days later, Krasilnikau was released, he transferred a million dollars to the KGB's account. Neither the press-center of the KGB, nor the businessman commented on this situation.

- That's true. On Thursday, December 6, Andrei Krasilnikau was arrested, and on Sunday he was released, - says one of the sources of tut.by.

They say that since December 6, the telephone of Mr. Krasilnikau, one of the owners of CJSC BelAseptika, stopped answering calls, the man was unreached by messengers.

- He was arrested by the KGB in the “doctors’ case” in connection with giving bribes for solving questions about the purchase of drugs by BelAseptika. He was released, having paid $ 1 million to compensate for the damage he sustained, - the second source said.

According to tut.by, on December 10, BelAseptika transferred one million dollars to the KGB account. According to unconfirmed information, regional managers were detained along with Andrei Krasilnikau.

The website of the company says: “Today BelAseptika is a leading Belarusian manufacturer in its branch. We produce a wide range of professional antiseptics, disinfectants, detergents and cleaning products for healthcare organizations, education, food industry, communal services, agriculture and many other areas of human life.”

tut.by contacted Andrei Krasilnikau on Monday and Tuesday. On November 17, the businessman reported on his Facebook page that his son had written a petition to the law enforcement agencies.

- Everything is ok. I was summoned to the Chief Directorate to Combat Organized Criminality and Corruption, gave explanations, but have been no actions so fat, - said Andrei Krasilnikau on December 10.

On the same day, the general director of BelAseptika, pardoned by ex-Prosecutor General Aliaksandr Arkhipau, confirmed that Krasilnikay walked free.

“The man is at workplace, he has leftmy office literally two minutes ago,” Aliaksandr Arkhipau told tut.by.

On Tuesday, December 11, we once again contacted the owner of BelAseptika with a request to comment on the events of December 6.

- Without comments, please, - answered Mr. Krasilnikau.

- Can you tell me in what status you were released?

- Ino status, I am working, everything is peaceful, - says Krasilnikau.

The press-center of the KGB also replied with the “No comment.”

The detention of the chief physician of the Homel Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital is connected with the case of BelAseptika. Responsibilities of Victor Karmazin are fulfilled by his deputy since the end of November .

On June 25, Chairman of the KGB Valer Vakulchyk reported that the committee revealed a large-scale corruption scheme in the healthcare sector of Belarus. As reported by the Belarusian President on September 11 at a meeting on problematic issues in the healthcare system, 95 criminal cases were instituted, and almost 100 people were subjected to investigation. “When it is over, the court will determine who is guilty and to which extent. But the facts that are revealed do not cause doubts,” the head of state emphasized.

Five hospital head physicians were detained in the case. Siarhei Shakutsin, owner of Iskemed, and Leanid Tomchyn, chairman of the board of directors of the largest private pharmacy network “Apteka Group”, were put to jail as representatives of large private business.

In mid-August the restraint was changed with regard to several detainees.
