Pavel Seviarynets: Host European Games – Release Political Prisoners

A meeting of the Freedom to Political Prisoners Forum was held in Minsk.

According to Pavel Seviarynets, the co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy and the moderator of the event, the meeting was convened urgently. Radio Racyja reported this.

Because the pressure on Taras Avatarau has sharply increased in the Vitsba-3 colony. He actually cannot sleep because of the various threats. At the meeting, representatives of various public organizations and parties developed a set of actions to improve the situation with Avatarau and other political prisoners.

– We decided to gather a group of people who will go along with Taras Avatarau’s mother to the reception in the Department for the Execution of Punishment on the 18th. We appointed the date of the next meeting. We also decided to hold a large presentation of the Freedom to Political Prisoners forum’s list of political prisoners in January. We will prepare a presentation for journalists, for citizens of Belarus, and for foreign embassies. The message of this campaign will be the following: If you want to hold the European Games and invite Europeans here, release the political prisoners.

According to Pavel Seviarynets, the participants of the Freedom to Political Prisoners forum, unlike some other human rights organizations, for example, the human rights center Viasna, believe that there are 8 political prisoners in Belarus now. Viasna recognizes only one political prisoner – Mikhail Zhamchuzhny.
