The opposition politician has been accused of disobedience to the police.

Co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Pavel Seviarynets and activist Siarhei Anenkau were found guilty of “disobeying the police” (Article 23.4 of the Administrative Code). They claim that there was no disobedience, Radio Svaboda reports. They were detained in Kurapaty yesterday.

Judge Viktar Shautsou watched the video of the detention, and, without leaving the courtroom, sentenced Seviarynets to a fine of 49 basic units and Anenkau – to a fine of 38 basic units.

Pavel Seviarynets and Siarhei Anenkau were detained near the Let's Go Get Some Eats restaurant near Kurapaty on December 12. In the evening, they were taken to the Barauliany police department and a report for “disobedience to the police” was drawn up against them. At that, the policemen were called by a restaurant visitor, who often comes there. He refused to take booklets about Kurapaty and leave the car at the entrance, started to kick up noise.

Seviarynets and Anenkau spent the night in the isolation ward of the Minsk district police department in Frantsysk Skaryna street in Minsk.

They were brought to the Minsk district court only after lunch.
