Over 12 Thousand Belarusians Demand Day Off On January 2

The number of people dissatisfied with the government decisions is growing rapidly.

The number of people signing the petition on the transfer of the working day from 2 January is growing rapidly.

The number of signatures reached almost 12 and a half thousand by the Wednesday midday.

We remind, that the petition states:

“This year, the Ministry of Labor proposed to make January 2, 2019 a day off. It falls on Wednesday, and if they make January 2 a non-working day, then Belarusians will have 4 days off in a row – from December 30 to January 2.

The schedule of moving working days and days off is published. The government decided on how the working days will be moved in 2019. Specific dates are approved by the Resolution № 906 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of December 15, 2018.

The Council of Ministers decided that there would be no day off on January 2, 2019. For the first time in many years, this day will be a working day.

We ask to reconsider the decision on the transfer of the working day from January 2, 2019 and move it to any other Saturday.”
