“Parasites” To Have To Pay Five Times More For Hot Water And Heating

The specific size of the tariffs will be approved by local officials.

From January 1, 2019, the citizens who are on the list of those not engaged in the economy will be charged full tariffs for hot water, and from October 1 – for gas (if there are individual devices) and heating.

This is stipulated by a resolution of the Council of Ministers, Radio Svaboda reports.

The maximum level of tariffs for housing and communal services is determined by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. These tariffs have not yet been approved for 2019.

“According to the limit levels, the local authorities determine the specific size of tariffs,” – the ministry informs.

According to the Minsk City Executive Committee, this year the subsidized tariff for heat supply is 16.9259 rubles per 1 Gcal. And the full tariff, which the “parasites” have to pay, is 81.42 rubles per 1 Gcal this year, that is, it’s five times more expensive.

There’s the same situation with the tariffs for hot water (heating). For this year, the cost of these services for “parasites” would be 4.8 times more expensive.

So far, however, it is unknown how many gigacaloria will be paid for by the “parasite,” if there are several people registered in the apartment.

Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, Zhanna Papucheyava, explained to journalists that the amount of gigacaloria will be divided by the number of those registered in the apartment.

The current tariffs were introduced by Lukashenka’s decree No. 473 “On the establishment of tariffs for housing and communal services for the population in 2018” of December 31, 2017.

We remind that the Belarusians working abroad automatically get on the list of “parasites.” The lists will be compiled by special commissions that work with personal information of Belarusians.

It has been repeatedly stated that the “parasites” will pay for other services that are subsidized by the state, and the “people not engaged in the economy” were threatened with the activity therapy centres.

We remind that the previous version of the “parasite decree” caused mass protests, which the experts have called the most large-scale in Belarus since the “perestroika.”
