Uladzimir Khilmanovich: Authorities’ Regulations Seem Clearly Absurd

Uladzimir Khilmanovich: Authorities’ Regulations Seem Clearly Absurd
ULADZIMIR KHILMANOVICH

Belarusians are fighting for the right to honor the memory of the heroes of the Slutsk uprising.

Svislach district court judge Zhanna Salahubik has fined writer and social activist Uladzimir Khilmanovich fifteen basic units, racyja.com reports.

The fine for holding an unauthorized mass event looks like humiliation and is an act of harassment for the manifestation of the national memory, Uladzimir Khilmanovich believes:

– I was not present during the consideration of my administrative case. Firstly, I have not had a chance to go to Svislach today, and secondly, there was not much point in it. After all, these cases are pre-determined by the order. They are clearly absurd from the legal point of view and have clear political-punitive nature. And the fact that before me, Svislach district court chairman Aliaksandr Shylin fined five persons large sums of money, did not give any hope that there was a chance to defend myself.

Two more Hrodna residents, Siarheyi Verameyanka and Mikalai Salianik, brought to similar administrative responsibility in Svislach. Earlier, Svislach district court chairman Aliaksandr Shylin fined 5 community activists large sums of money: Svislach residents Yury Hlebik (25 basic units) and Viktar Piatselchyts (10 basic units), and Hrodna residents Viktar Sazonau and Ihar Bantsar (15 basic units each), Yezhy Hryhencha (20 basic units).
