While in prison, the political prisoner actively fights for his rights and the rights of other prisoners.
Vitsebsk human rights activists congratulated the political prisoner, their colleague and fellow countryman, Mikhail Zhamchuzhny, on World Human Rights Day. Vitsebsk Viasna reports about it.
This year, this date is twice as important, since December 10 marks the 70th anniversary of adopting one of the most important documents in the history of mankind – the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In their congratulations, the Vitsebsk human rights activists stress their highest regard for Zhamchuzhny's contribution to the protection and expansion of fundamental human rights.
Being behind bars, the human rights activist is actively fighting for his rights and the rights of other prisoners. The administration of the correctional colony No. 9, where he is serving the sentence, has repeatedly punished him by placing him in a punishment cell or by a harsh prison regime. Mikhail, as a person no longer young, is having a hard time going through all these trials.
“A person who is in an extreme situation needs our support and our solidarity in the first place. Therefore, I urge you to support Mikhail Zhamchuzhny with warm letters and postcards on the days of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.)” – human rights activist Leanid Svetsik calls.
Congratulations should be sent to:
Correctional Colony No. 9, 16 Dabraliubau street, Horki, 213410, Mahiliou region.
