Belarusians Honored Kastus Kalinouski’s Memory In Vilnius

Three nations revolted against tsarism 155 years ago.

On February 1, 2018, on the 155th anniversary of the uprising and on the eve of the 180th anniversary of the leader of the uprising, our national hero, Kastus Kalinouski, the delegation of the Razam Solidarity Movement, consisting of Viachaslau Siuchyk, Ihar Lial’kou and Alena Talstaya, visited Vilnius to honor the memory of the rebels, Radio Racyja reports.

The memorial event began near the Cross on Lukishki, and gathered representatives of three peoples who rebelled against the Russian imperialism 155 years ago – Belarusians, Lithuanians and Ukrainians. Speeches were delivered in three languages, which was very symbolic, the event ended with a minute of silence, the prayer "Our Father" and the common "Long Live Belarus!".

Flowers were also laid at the commemorative plaque of Kalinouski.
