Minsk is a member of the military-political coalition headed by the Russian aggressor country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine states that it is impossible for Belarus to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass, since the country is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a military-political coalition led by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation. This was reported by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Elena Zerkal on the air of Channel 5, liga.net reports.

"As far as I know, Belarus has not withdrawn from the CSTO and is a member of this organization. And if we exclude NATO, then it is quite logical that the CSTO countries also should not participate in the mission," – she says.

Zerkal notes that Ukraine and Western partners will not play by Russian rules.

"They are constantly trying to promote the idea that we should conduct all the dialogues with the factions of the LPR and the DPR. It is clear that the LPR and the DPR are not parties to the conflict. This is clear not only to us, but to all our Western partners," – she says.

The deputy minister stresses that Ukraine insists on the phased deployment of the peacekeeping contingent, starting from the uncontrolled section of the Russian-Ukrainian border.

"Now I think it’s important for the peacekeepers to be on the border of Ukraine with Russia, and the mission will unfold in stages. The discussion on this issue has been going on for some time," – she sums up.

On February 17, Lukashenka stated that he was ready to send 10,000 Belarusian soldiers as "peacekeepers" to the Donbas.
