Andrei Kureichyk: 'Belarusfilm' General Manager Dismissed
ANDREI KUREICHYK

Ihar Porshneu will no longer occupy the position of the general Manager at the state film studio since March 1.

Director Andrei Kureichyk informed this to tut.by, having referred to own sources at the "Belarusfilm". A source in the Ministry of Culture also confirmed this information.

— I was told about it by my sources at the "Belarusfilm" studio. According to them, a narrow circle of employees was informed that Mr. Porshneu would no longer work at the film studio since March 1, — the director told.

Kureichyk sees three reasons, which in aggregate, or each separately, could serve as an excuse for the resignation of the General Manager of the "Belarusfilm".

— Firstly, it's the film "Circles on the water" and the ensuing scandal with Konchalovsky. Secondly — the "Tum-Pabi-Doom" box-office results. In Minsk, the film made 1600 dollars, and it was viewed by only about three thousand spectators. Well, the third reason is the film "Not a Game", which was released without the name of the director in the titles — apparently, some other scandal lies behind this. At the same time there is nothing to brag about. Two films, for which the budget money was spent, did not come out.

"Hold on to the clouds" was supposed to be shown in the spring of 2017. The TV-series "Driving School" was also not sold. But after all, more than a million dollars of public funds were spent on each of these projects, — suggested Kureichyk.

Press-secretary of the Ministry of Culture Ilona Nemava said that for the time being there were no documents about the dismissal of Ihar Porshneu in the personnel department of the Ministry. However, an unofficial source in the Ministry of Culture confirmed the news of Porshneu's dismissal.

Ihar Porshneu has been unavailable by phone so far.
