One More Case In Pechy: Lieutenant-Colonel Tried For Bribes

Prior to detention, the officer was heading the physical training and sports department in the 72nd United Educational Center.

A lieutenant-colonel from the training center in Pechy is tried for receiving bribes in Barysau. The man faces three to ten years of imprisonment.

Lieutenant-Colonel K., who is accused under Part 1, 2 of Art. 430 of the Criminal Code (Taking a bribe, repeatedly), is held defendant in the case. The leading expert of Barysau district court Dzmitry Kryvela reported this to tut.by.

According to the punishment provided for in the article, the man faces from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment. Prior to his arrest, he was the head of the physical training and sports department in the 72nd United Educational Center.

"He is accused of demanding that the students themselves or through third persons purchased him alcohol and food during the physical examinations. Which he then took as payment for concealing the true state of affairs about the state of physical training and for giving fake positive grades," – the representative of the Supreme Court Yulia Liaskova explained.

The process goes in parallel with the trial of an ensign from Pechy for bribes, exceeding authority and insulting soldiers. Two cases were sent to court almost at the same time, but they were not reported to the media before.

The next meeting on the case will be held on March 14.
