The authorities are not interested in people knowing their rights.

March 15 is the Day of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. And since this important state holiday is a working day, it will again pass unnoticed for ordinary citizens. This is facilitated by the silence from the authorities, which do not mention the state's Fundamental Law, as Leanid Sudalenka, member of the human rights center Viasna, told Radio Racyja:

- The problem lies in the sphere, if the Belarusian leaders, Belarusian officials are not interested in explaining to ordinary people what kind of document it is, when and what for it was adopted, what basic rights and obligations are envisaged by the Constitution, including the state's obligation to observe the rights of citizens, the citizens' rights: what they are entitled to," - the human rights activist said.

The first Constitution in the independent Belarus was adopted in 1994. It was changed later. The restriction to be elected as president no more than twice has disappeared from the new version of the Constitution.
